no pencils underneath??? very good work indeed. great shading techniques for a pen.

I sketch very gently with the ballpoint first, but I don't use pensil.
I hate removing my lines, even if they were wrong!
You can still se some "wrong" sketching with the ballpoint, over the neck, over the upper lip and in the upper part of the ear.

This is the craziest thing I've ever seen. :p You last comment was very helpful; I was just going to ask if you used a pencil sketch. This is definitely -not- a typical pen doodle. The shading is amazing, especially as it creates all the wrinkles and form of the skin.

I look forward to seeing more...

That is so cool! I kind of get tired of seeing boring photo-like portraits after a while, it's great to see some charicatures now and again. Great line work.

Nice!

I don't know about you but, I like how the pen can be used for utter darkness or the very lightest hints of detail. You seem to have a great control over you medium. Nice 3d effect.
Good Job!

Nikko, just wanted to say that your control is amazing, the deft touch of your hand is the calibre I aspire to attain. You rock.

wowiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! the best way to describe it is "fun". I can't call this piece a caricature, like some others here did, because it's way way too detailed. I LOVE IT!!!!

This is one of my favorites on this board. I love the style. It is very much like the character in a Bill Plympton film called "Your Face". If it wasn't an inspiration for this piece then I recommend checking it out. It is so amazingly close you would flip your lid! Very nice work as are all of your others.
